Math

Math classes currently offered at Bingham Academy:

Algebra 1: Students will learn how to write and solve equations and inequalities in one variable. This will also be their introduction to functions, including linear functions, quadratic functions, and exponential functions. In addition, they will learn how to solve systems of two equations and are introduced to other concepts including sequences and sets.

Geometry: Students will formalize prior and new geometry knowledge using proofs. As a student's first proof-based class, learning the names of theorems and how to apply them in mathematical proofs is prioritized. This class is the foundation for higher-level math classes, which are generally proof-based.

Algebra 2: Students will extend their knowledge of concepts learned in Algebra 1. Specifically, they will study more complicated functions such as polynomials, radical functions, and logarithmic functions, as well as solve systems of equations in more than two variables.

Math in the Modern World: Students apply the skills acquired in their algebra classes to real-world concepts, with a focus on personal finance. Topics of study include, but are not limited to, banking services, loans (i.e. personal, business, student), car ownership, insurance, and investing (i.e. bonds, stocks, ETFs, etc.).
